8:30am - 10:15am - Conducting a gap analysis on readiness to meet the public health accreditation standards and measures
To assess Andrews County Health Department's (ACHD) readiness for national accreditation, the staff conducted a gap analysis to compare ACHD's policies, procedures, and practices to the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB) Standards and Measures Version 1.0 (2011) documentation requirements. Method: Quality Improvement Gap Analysis. Setting: ACHD serves a population jurisdiction of < 15,000. Purpose: The presentation will define gap analysis and describe the three-step process ACHD employed to determine compliance with the PHAB standards and measures. The process consists of determining standards, assessing the organization compliance with standards, and using the information to create an action plan. Conclusion: Gap analysis was a useful planning methodology to determine ACHD's readiness for national accreditation. ACHD staff believes achieving agency accreditation is a realistic goal for the future and estimates taking five years to meet all identified gaps.
